When I talk with a customer about an extruder, I usually avoid starting with a long list of numbers. Numbers are important, of course, but they only make sense when they match the product being manufactured. My first questions are usually much simpler: What wire or cable are you making? What material are you using? What production rhythm do you expect? How will the finished product be collected?
These questions are also the starting point for our 120 High-efficiency Extruder (Gantry Retraction and Expansion). We developed this type of equipment around a practical idea: an extrusion machine should provide stable material processing while making the overall Production Process easier to manage.
At Wuxi Shuochuan Electromechanical Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd., we integrate R&D, manufacturing and sales. Our product range includes high-speed extruders, three-in-one BV extrusion automatic Production Lines, three-in-one plus one BVVB automated production lines, photovoltaic wire and Cable Production lines, automotive Wire Production lines, electronic Wire Production Lines, network communication wire production lines, charging pile Cable Production Lines, take-up and unwinding equipment, Auxiliary Equipment and related raw materials.
The 120 High-Efficiency Extruder is part of this wider equipment system. The Gantry Retraction and Expansion structure is designed with practical equipment handling in mind, while the extrusion system itself focuses on controlled feeding, material processing, continuous forming and stable downstream production.
I know that industrial buyers do not just want a machine that works for five minutes during a demonstration. They need equipment that can become part of a real factory, where operators run production every day, change materials, change reels, adjust products and deal with normal production problems. That is the standard I use when discussing this extruder.
1. What Is the 120 High-Efficiency Extruder?
The basic job of an extruder is easy to understand. It takes a prepared material, moves it through the machine, applies controlled heat and mechanical force, and pushes the material through a die to form a continuous product.
In wire and cable manufacturing, extrusion is commonly used to place insulation or a protective sheath around a conductor. The process may look simple from the outside, but several things need to happen at the same time. Material must be supplied steadily. Temperature must be controlled. The screw must move the material properly. The die must form the material correctly. Cooling has to happen at the right stage. The traction system has to keep the product moving at a controlled rate. Finally, the finished cable has to be collected without damaging its shape.
That is why I describe our 120 High-Efficiency Extruder as part of a production system rather than just a single machine.
The equipment is designed for continuous extrusion applications and can be integrated into different wire and cable production lines. Depending on the customer's product and material, the complete line may be configured for photovoltaic cable, automotive wire, electronic wire, network communication cable, charging pile cable, silicone rubber products and other extrusion-related applications.
The exact configuration is not something I recommend guessing from the product name. A buyer may see “120” and immediately ask for the maximum output. That is understandable, but the actual production result depends on the complete configuration, material, product dimensions, die design, processing conditions, cooling arrangement, line speed and other factors.
For this reason, we confirm the technical requirements with the customer before production.
What Does “Gantry Retraction and Expansion” Mean?
The gantry structure is related to the equipment arrangement and movement needed during production or operation. Retraction and expansion functions are intended to make equipment handling more practical and support a more organized working process.
I prefer to explain this in everyday factory language. If a machine contains a moving structure that operators need to adjust, position or access, the movement should be designed in a controlled and practical way. Operators should not have to fight with the equipment every time they perform a normal task.
That human side of equipment design matters. A machine may have excellent mechanical performance, but if routine operation is awkward, operators will eventually find workarounds. Good industrial equipment should reduce that kind of unnecessary trouble.

2. How I Understand the Extrusion Process
One reason I spend time explaining the process is that many equipment problems become easier to understand once the operator knows what the machine is actually doing.
Step 1: Feeding the Material
Production starts with material preparation and feeding. The material must enter the extrusion system in a controlled way. If the material supply is not stable, the rest of the process will have a hard time staying stable as well.
For different cable materials, the feeding arrangement may also be different. This is why we first ask about the material before finalizing the equipment configuration.
Step 2: Plasticizing and Mixing
Inside the extruder, the screw moves the material forward. At the same time, controlled heating and mechanical action bring the material into a suitable processing state.
This stage is often called plasticizing. In simple terms, the solid material is changed into a condition where it can flow through the extrusion die.
Temperature is important, but temperature alone does not determine the quality of the process. Screw design, screw speed, material properties, residence time, cooling and downstream speed all have a relationship with one another.
That is why I would never tell a customer to copy a temperature setting from another factory without checking the material first. Two materials can look similar but behave very differently inside the barrel.
Step 3: Extrusion Through the Die
Once the material reaches the required processing condition, it is pushed through the die. The die gives the material its basic shape.
For cable production, the die and related tooling are particularly important because the extruded material needs to surround the conductor in a controlled way. The target insulation or sheath dimensions depend on the actual product design.
This is one of the reasons we ask for cable drawings or product specifications whenever possible. A technical drawing can tell us much more than a product name alone.
Step 4: Cooling
After leaving the die, the extruded material needs to cool and stabilize. Cooling conditions depend on the material, product structure and production process.
If cooling is poorly matched to the process, dimensional stability can become harder to maintain. The goal is not simply “more cooling.” The goal is the right cooling arrangement for the product.
Step 5: Traction
The traction system moves the product through the production line. Its movement must be coordinated with extrusion.
Imagine pushing toothpaste from a tube while pulling the toothpaste at the other end. If you push and pull at very different rates, the shape will change. Cable extrusion is much more precise than that simple example, but the basic idea is similar: extrusion and line movement need to work together.
Step 6: Take-Up and Collection
At the end of the line, the finished product is collected. This sounds like the easy part, but it is repeated again and again in daily production.
That is why we pay attention to the overall equipment arrangement and practical operation. A production line should not only make the product; it should also allow the operator to work with the machine in a sensible way.
3. Main Features of Our 120 High-Efficiency Extruder
When I explain the 120 High-Efficiency Extruder, I focus on several features that have direct value on the factory floor.
Continuous Extrusion
The equipment is designed for continuous extrusion processing. This is important for wire and cable manufacturers because cable is normally produced as a continuous product rather than as individual pieces.
Continuous processing also means that process stability matters. If the line frequently needs to stop because of avoidable equipment issues, the factory loses production time and material.
Controlled Material Processing
The extrusion process needs controlled feeding, heating and screw movement. Our equipment is designed around these basic requirements so that operators can manage the process according to the selected material and product.
Gantry Retraction and Expansion Structure
The gantry retraction and expansion design gives the equipment a practical structural feature for equipment movement and operation. The exact mechanical arrangement depends on the final machine configuration.
I consider this useful because industrial machinery is not only about running speed. Access, adjustment and maintenance also matter. If a structure can be positioned more conveniently, routine work becomes easier.
Integration With Complete Production Lines
We manufacture more than individual extruders. Our product range also includes automated extrusion production lines and various take-up and unwinding systems. This allows us to consider how the extruder will work with the equipment before and after it.
Application Flexibility
The equipment can be considered for a range of extrusion applications. These include photovoltaic wire and cable, automotive wires, electronic wires, network communication cables, charging pile cables and other extrusion-related products.
However, flexibility does not mean that one configuration should be used for everything. We still confirm the material, product size and production requirements before recommending the final arrangement.
Human-Friendly Operation
We place practical operation high on the list. Operators need to understand the equipment, monitor the process and carry out normal adjustments without unnecessary complexity.
In my view, the best automation is often the automation that makes a worker's day a little easier without making the machine difficult to understand.
4. Technical Advantages and Production Considerations
When buyers compare high-efficiency extruders, it is tempting to compare only motor power, screw speed or theoretical output. Those numbers can be useful, but they should not be viewed alone.
I normally recommend looking at the whole process.
Material Stability Comes First
Every material has its own behavior. Some materials process within a relatively narrow temperature range. Others are more sensitive to shear, moisture, residence time or cooling conditions.
For that reason, the extrusion machine must be matched to the material. A good machine does not make material properties disappear. It gives the operator the control needed to work with those properties.
Die Selection Matters
The die is a small part of the complete line, but it has a large influence on the final shape. For cable extrusion, tooling needs to match the conductor and insulation or sheath structure.
When customers ask me why a line cannot simply use one die for several different cable sizes, I explain it this way: the die is like the mold that gives the material its final shape. If the product changes, the mold may also need to change.
Line Speed Must Match the Process
A higher line speed is not automatically better. If the material cannot be processed correctly at that speed, the factory may end up with more waste instead of more useful product.
Real production is about balance. Extrusion rate, cooling, traction, material behavior and take-up all have to work together.
Maintenance Should Be Considered Early
I also recommend considering maintenance before buying equipment. Operators will eventually need to clean, inspect, adjust and replace components. A machine that is easier to access can save time over its working life.
Energy Use Is More Than One Number
When we describe an extrusion line as efficient, I do not think it is responsible to promise a fixed energy saving percentage without knowing the actual process. Energy consumption depends on material, production rate, heating requirements, motor operation, cooling, auxiliary equipment and operating conditions.
Instead, our design approach is to build equipment around the customer's production process and avoid unnecessary energy use caused by poor equipment matching or inefficient operation.
| Factor | What It Can Affect | What I Recommend Checking |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Processing temperature and flow behavior | Material type, grade and processing requirements |
| Screw system | Material movement and plasticizing | Compatibility with the intended material and output target |
| Die and tooling | Product shape and dimensions | Conductor size, insulation/sheath structure and target dimensions |
| Cooling | Product stability after extrusion | Cooling method and product requirements |
| Traction | Product movement and dimensional consistency | Coordination with extrusion conditions |
| Take-up | Final product collection | Reel size, handling method and production workflow |

How Industry Standards Relate to the Extrusion Process
For cable manufacturers, production equipment is only one part of the quality system. The finished cable also needs to meet the requirements that apply to its specific product category.
For example, IEC 60227-1:2024 covers PVC-insulated cables with rated voltages up to and including 450/750 V and sets general requirements for the specified cable types.
IEC 60502-1:2021 specifies construction, dimensions and test requirements for certain power cables with extruded solid insulation at rated voltages of 1 kV and 3 kV.
These standards are useful references, but I want to make one point very clear: purchasing an extrusion machine does not automatically make the finished cable compliant with an IEC standard. The cable manufacturer must select the correct materials, design, process and testing methods for the specific product.
5. Where Can the 120 High-Efficiency Extruder Be Used?
Our equipment is mainly connected with wire and cable extrusion, but the exact application depends on the selected configuration and material.
Photovoltaic Cable Production
Photovoltaic cables are used in solar power systems and require suitable insulation and protective materials for their intended service conditions. Extrusion equipment can be used to form insulation and protective layers around the conductor.
For a photovoltaic wire and cable production line, I would normally pay close attention to material selection, product dimensions, cooling and downstream handling. The production process needs to be designed around the finished cable specification.
Automotive Wire Production
Automotive wire manufacturing involves many different wire sizes and product specifications. Production equipment therefore needs to support controlled and repeatable extrusion.
The 120 High-Efficiency Extruder can be considered as part of an automotive wire production line when its configuration matches the specific product requirements.
Electronic Wire
Electronic wires often use relatively small conductors and insulation layers. Stable extrusion is important because small dimensional changes can become more noticeable when the product is small.
In this kind of application, tooling, material processing and line movement need to be properly matched.
Network Communication Cable
Communication cables can have multiple layers and precise product structures. Extrusion may be used for insulation or outer jacket production depending on the cable design.
For communication cable manufacturers, I recommend providing the complete cable structure before equipment selection. A simple product name does not give enough information for responsible equipment design.
Charging Pile Cable
Charging pile cables are another application covered by our production equipment range. Depending on the cable design, the production line may include extrusion stages for insulation and protective sheathing.
Silicone Rubber Products
Silicone rubber extrusion is different from many thermoplastic extrusion processes. The material and curing process need to be considered separately.
Our experience with extrusion-related equipment allows us to discuss these applications, but I would still confirm the material and production process before proposing the machine configuration.
| Industry / Product | Typical Extrusion Application | Main Engineering Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Photovoltaic cable | Insulation and protective layer extrusion | Material, dimensions, cooling and product stability |
| Automotive wire | Wire insulation extrusion | Small product dimensions and process consistency |
| Electronic wire | Insulation extrusion | Tooling and controlled material flow |
| Network communication cable | Insulation or jacket extrusion | Layer structure and dimensional requirements |
| Charging pile cable | Insulation and sheath extrusion | Cable structure and material compatibility |
| Silicone rubber products | Continuous rubber extrusion | Material behavior and dedicated processing conditions |

6. How We Build and Prepare the Extruder
For a customized industrial machine, manufacturing does not start when the factory begins cutting metal. In my view, the real work starts much earlier, when we confirm what the customer actually needs.
Product Confirmation
We first collect information about the product. This may include cable type, conductor size, insulation or sheath material, product dimensions, production requirements and other technical details.
If the customer has drawings or technical specifications, we prefer to review them. A drawing can answer questions that a product name cannot.
Equipment Configuration
After understanding the product, we work out the appropriate equipment arrangement. This includes the extruder and the auxiliary equipment needed for the production process.
The goal is not to add as many machines as possible. The goal is to create a line in which each part has a clear job.
Mechanical Manufacturing
Our company integrates R&D, manufacturing and sales. We use our engineering experience to manufacture equipment according to the agreed requirements.
We have obtained more than ten utility model patent certificates. These patents are part of our continuing work on equipment structure and practical engineering improvements.
Assembly and Integration
Once the major components are ready, the equipment is assembled and the relationship between the different sections is checked. The gantry structure, extrusion system and related auxiliary equipment need to work as part of one production arrangement.
Testing Before Shipment
Before shipment, we assemble, test and inspect the complete production line according to the agreed requirements.
I consider this step one of the most important parts of the project. A production line can contain many components, and a small problem in a connection or setting can cause trouble later. Finding that problem before shipment is much better than discovering it after installation at the customer's factory.
Packaging
Industrial equipment may travel a long way before it reaches the customer. We normally use moisture-resistant materials, protective cushioning and strong export wooden cases or pallets.
The packaging method is intended to protect the equipment during loading, handling, storage and long-distance transportation.
Transportation
Transportation can be arranged by sea, air or land according to the destination, equipment size and delivery schedule.
The standard delivery package generally includes the complete agreed Extruder Production Line, necessary components, technical documents, accessories and other items specified in the order.
7. Why I Recommend Working With Shuochuan
I do not think every customer should choose a machine simply because the supplier claims high speed or high efficiency. Industrial equipment is a long-term purchase. The supplier needs to understand the application, communicate clearly and deliver what was actually agreed.
That is the approach we follow at Wuxi Shuochuan.
We Work Across the Whole Extrusion System
Our business covers high-speed extruders as well as complete Automatic Extrusion Production Lines, take-up and unwinding equipment, auxiliary equipment and related products.
This matters because a customer may start by asking for one extruder but eventually need a complete production solution. We can discuss the relationship between the main extruder and the surrounding equipment rather than looking at one machine in isolation.
We Have Our Own R&D and Manufacturing Capability
We are an innovative technology enterprise integrating R&D, manufacturing and sales. We have obtained more than ten utility model patent certificates.
For me, the important point is not simply the number of certificates. Engineering knowledge becomes useful when it is applied to actual equipment. We keep looking at how the machine can become more efficient, more practical and easier for operators to use.
We Follow a Structured Quality Process
Our company has passed ISO 19001 quality management system certification. We apply quality management across the process from R&D to production.
Again, I do not see certification as a substitute for careful engineering. It should support a disciplined way of working.
We Confirm Requirements Before Production
Before manufacturing, we confirm product specifications, material requirements, production capacity, equipment configuration and delivery schedule with the customer.
This is especially important for customized extrusion equipment. It reduces misunderstandings and gives both sides a clear technical basis for the order.
We Test Before Shipment
The complete production line is assembled, tested and inspected according to the agreed requirements before shipment.
This does not replace installation and commissioning at the customer's factory, because factory conditions and actual production materials can be different. But pre-shipment testing gives the customer a much better starting point.
We Keep Communication Practical
Our corporate spirit is “Quality First, Continuous Improvement, and Honest Service.” I think the word “honest” is especially important in industrial equipment sales.
If a requested configuration is not suitable for a particular material, I would rather explain that early than promise something just to close an order. In the long run, that is better for both sides.

The extruder is designed for continuous extrusion processing and can be used as part of wire and cable production lines. Depending on the configuration, applications may include photovoltaic cables, automotive wires, electronic wires, network communication cables, charging pile cables and other extrusion-related products.
Q2. What does “Gantry Retraction and Expansion” refer to?
It refers to the gantry retraction and expansion structure incorporated into the equipment. The structure is intended to support practical equipment movement, positioning and operation. The exact mechanical arrangement should be confirmed according to the final machine configuration.
Q3. Can this extruder process different materials?
Different extrusion materials can require different machine and process conditions. The suitable material range depends on the actual screw, die, temperature control and complete equipment configuration. We recommend providing the material name and grade before confirming the machine.
Q4. Can the 120 High-Efficiency Extruder be integrated into an automatic production line?
Yes. Our product range includes three-in-one BV extrusion automatic production lines, three-in-one plus one BVVB automated production lines and other wire and cable production equipment. The extruder can be considered as part of a complete automated extrusion solution when the technical requirements are compatible.
Q5. Is the machine suitable for photovoltaic cable?
It can be considered for photovoltaic wire and cable production when the equipment configuration matches the product specification and material. We need to review the cable structure, material, dimensions and production requirements before confirming the final configuration.
Q6. Can it be used for automotive wire?
Yes, it can be considered for automotive wire production applications. Automotive wire production can involve different wire sizes and materials, so tooling and process conditions should be selected according to the actual product.
Q7. How do I choose the correct extrusion machine configuration?
I recommend starting with the product rather than the machine. Provide the conductor size, insulation or sheath material, finished cable dimensions, production target, reel requirements and any applicable product standard. We can then evaluate the equipment configuration based on those details.
Q8. Can you provide a fixed production capacity?
Production capacity depends on the complete configuration and production conditions. Material type, product size, die design, processing temperature, screw conditions, line speed and downstream equipment can all affect actual output. We therefore confirm capacity based on the customer's specific product rather than providing a generic number.
Q9. What is the production lead time?
Lead time normally depends on the extruder model, line configuration, customization requirements and order quantity. We confirm the production and delivery schedule with the customer before manufacturing.
Q10. What happens before shipment?
Before shipment, the complete production line is assembled, tested and inspected according to the agreed requirements. Necessary technical documents, components and accessories are also prepared according to the final order.
Q11. How do you package the equipment?
We normally use moisture-resistant materials, protective cushioning and strong export wooden cases or pallets. The purpose is to protect the equipment during loading, handling, storage and long-distance transportation.
Q12. Can you arrange shipping?
Yes. Sea, air or land transportation can be arranged according to the destination, equipment size and delivery schedule.
Q13. What payment terms do you normally use?
Payment terms are arranged according to the contract. A common arrangement includes a deposit before production and the balance before shipment. The final terms are confirmed in the commercial agreement.
Q14. Does buying this extruder mean my cable will automatically meet an IEC standard?
No. This distinction is important. The extruder is manufacturing equipment; IEC requirements apply to specific finished cable products. For example, IEC 60227-1:2024 addresses specified PVC-insulated cables up to 450/750 V, while IEC 60502-1:2021 addresses specified power cables with extruded solid insulation at 1 kV and 3 kV. The finished product must be designed and tested according to the applicable standard.

Q15. What information should I send when asking for a quotation?
I recommend sending as much of the following information as possible: product name, conductor size, insulation or sheath material, finished diaMeter, required production capacity, reel size, factory power conditions, available installation space and applicable standards. If you have a technical drawing, product specification or sample information, that will make the discussion much more accurate.
Technical Reference Information
The following table separates equipment information from finished-product standards. I believe this is important because an equipment supplier should not mix machine specifications with cable certification requirements.

Conclusion: Choosing an Extruder That Fits the Real Production Process
After working with industrial equipment, I have found that the most useful machine is not necessarily the one with the longest specification sheet. It is the one that fits the actual production process.
Our 120 High-Efficiency Extruder (Gantry Retraction and Expansion) is designed around continuous extrusion, controlled material processing, practical equipment operation and integration with wire and cable production systems.
The gantry retraction and expansion structure adds a practical movement function to the equipment, while the extrusion system handles the main task of processing and forming the material. Around it, feeding, tooling, cooling, traction and take-up equipment need to be correctly matched.
For photovoltaic wire and cable manufacturers, automotive wire manufacturers, electronic wire producers, network communication cable manufacturers and charging pile cable producers, the right extrusion equipment can become an important part of a stable production process. But I would always recommend selecting the machine according to the actual product rather than simply choosing a model from a catalog.
At Wuxi Shuochuan, our process starts with technical communication. We confirm the product, material, production requirements and equipment arrangement. We then manufacture, assemble, test and inspect the equipment according to the agreed requirements before shipment.
If you are currently comparing a 120 high-efficiency extruder, high-efficiency wire extrusion machine, cable extrusion machine, wire and Cable Extrusion Production Line or gantry retraction and expansion extruder, send us your product information first. A cable drawing, material specification or production target is often enough to start a useful technical discussion.
I would rather recommend a configuration that fits your factory than give you a generic machine specification that looks impressive on paper but does not match your production.
That is how we understand “Quality First, Continuous Improvement, and Honest Service” at Shuochuan: build the equipment around the real production job, check it carefully before delivery, and keep improving the details that matter to the people who actually use the machine.
